Streets, Sidewalks Blocked As Police Conduct Investigation In Mount Vernon

A police investigation in Mount Vernon led to several city streets being blocked to motorists and pedestrians during the evening commute on Wednesday.

Police said that due to an active police investigation in the area of Columbus and East 4th Avenue, multiple streets are being blocked off, along with the sidewalks. The nature of the investigation has not been disclosed by investigators, though according to a report, it may involve an armed barricaded subject.

While the investigation is ongoing, Bee-Line Bus routes are also being diverted. No other information was released as of 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening.
